UK Sees 13.7% Rise in New Car Registrations in August

New vehicle registrations in the UK rose 13.7% year over year in August to 94,236, the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders, or SMMT, said in a Friday report.

Volkswagen registrations fell 3.1% to 7,626, but the company had the largest market share, according to SMMT data.

Ford registrations declined roughly 8.3% to 5,152, while Toyota (TM) registrations grew 26.5% to 4,116.

Toyota's Lexus brand saw an 8% decline in registrations.

Meanwhile, Stellantis' (STLA) registrations totaled 2,354, up from the 1,647 figure recorded a year earlier, according to SMMT.

Tesla (TSLA) registrations fell by nearly 33% to 2,180, while Xpeng (XPEV) registrations grew 216% to 174, the report said. Polestar (PSNY) registrations fell nearly 50% to 366.

The SMMT data showed Peugeot registrations fell 25.3% to 2,848, while Citroen registrations rose 43% to 1,379, Fiat registrations increased 39.2% to 277, Jeep registrations climbed 58.9% to 572 and Vauxhall registrations rose 34.5% to 3,659.
