0147 GMT - CIMB expects Bank Negara Malaysia to keep the policy rate unchanged at its November meeting but sees a greater risk of a 25 bps hike to 3.00% in 1H of 2027. The removal of "appropriate" from the policy stance could signal greater data dependence and flexibility rather than an imminent policy move, say CIMB economists Chew Khai Yen and Michelle Chia in a note. This gives the central bank room to respond if stronger growth or higher cost pressures translate into more persistent inflation, they say. A hike in 1H 2027 is more likely if strong growth momentum and rising inflation pressures persist into 2027, they add.
