Bank Negara Malaysia Could Raise Rate to 3.0% in November

0130 GMT - Malaysia's central bank could raise its policy rate by 25 bps to 3.0% at its November meeting, reflecting a more constructive growth outlook and heightened vigilance over inflation risks, UOB economists Julia Goh and Loke Siew Ting say in a note. Changes to its recent policy language suggest greater flexibility to normalize rates should external uncertainties ease and domestic conditions remain supportive, they say. Bank Negara Malaysia is expected to keep the OPR unchanged through 2027 thereafter, supported by resilient growth and benign inflation as well as a preference for policy stability ahead of the next general election, they add.
