Torrid Holdings Inc. (NYSE:CURV) shares jumped 12.83% to $2.52 in after-hours trading on Thursday after the California-based women’s apparel retailer posted second-quarter results, with earnings per share of $0.05 topping analyst estimates of $0.01 by 400%.

The direct-to-consumer brand, known for plus-size clothing, intimates and accessories, announced results for the quarter ended Aug. 1.

Revenue Slips, But Profit Triples

Torrid posted revenue of $231.73 million, down 11.8% from a year earlier. Revenue missed the $242.11 million estimate by 4.29%.

Net income more than tripled to $5.2 million, or $0.05 per share, compared to $1.6 million a year ago. Growth was aided by an $11.4 million International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA) tariff refund, which lifted gross margin to 38.7% from 35.6% a year earlier.

Adjusted EBITDA rose to $23.3 million, or 10% of net sales.

CEO Lisa Harper said “sales trends improved meaningfully as the quarter progressed, with July marking a clear inflection point,” crediting merchandising course corrections, a stronger footwear inventory position, and early traction from the company’s third-party marketplace expansion and mobile app engagement.

Guidance Raise Tied to Tariff Refund

Despite lower sales in the quarter, Torrid raised its full-year outlook, now projecting net sales between $940 million and $960 million and Adjusted EBITDA between $76 million and $86 million. However, Harper clarified the raise stems solely from the tariff benefit, adding, “Excluding this benefit, our outlook is unchanged.”

For the upcoming quarter, the company expects net sales of $230 million to $235 million. It also expects Adjusted EBITDA to range from $15 million to $20 million.
