Equinix (EQIX) and Diraq said late Monday they plan to deploy a Diraq quantum computer at an Equinix data center in Sydney, Australia.
It will be the world's first silicon spin quantum computer to operate in a shared commercial data center, leading quantum computing a step closer to large-scale commercial adoption, the companies said.
The installed quantum computer will feature a silicon chip containing eight quantum bits, with all cryogenic cooling and control electronics self-contained, the companes added.
Installation work at Equinix's Sydney data center will be completed in October.
