Mead Johnson won a unanimous jury verdict in the Inman case in the US District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, the company said Monday.
The case was the first bellwether trial against Mead Johnson in federal multidistrict litigation over allegations concerning the cause of necrotizing enterocolitis, or NEC, a serious gastrointestinal condition that primarily affects premature infants.
Mead Johnson said there are currently no outstanding jury verdicts against the company in the broader NEC litigation, citing favorable outcomes in the Collins and Whitfield state cases and the Illinois Appellate Court's reversal of the Watson decision.
