Focus Back on Inflation After Strong U.S. Jobs Report

Dow Jones

0919 ET - Markets attention will turn to next week's CPI print ahead of the Fed's September's interest rate decision, following the strong August jobs data. The August jobs report makes it easier for Fed officials to argue the labor market has been relatively stable. However, it may validate the case for raising rates for some hawks on the committee worried about sustained price pressures and an economy running hot, especially since the June and July jobs figures were revised upward. The Labor Department will release the CPI print on Sept. 11. Markets are pricing in a 58% chance of a rate hike this month, according to CME's FedWatch tool.
