United Natural Foods Guides for Sales to Rise This Fiscal Year

United Natural Foods expects profit and sales to rise this fiscal year as it onboards further business from new and existing customers.

The forecast came as the company, a major food distributor for Whole Foods, swung to a fourth-quarter profit despite lower sales.

United Natural Foods said Tuesday it expects sales of $31.2 billion to $31.8 billion this fiscal year, up from $31.15 billion in the fiscal year that ended Aug. 1. The company projects fiscal-year adjusted earnings per share of $3 to $3.50, up from $2.65 in the last fiscal year.

Analysts polled by FactSet expect adjusted earnings of $3.31 a share on sales of $31.95 billion.

The company said it has started onboarding additional business from new and existing customers that it expects to grow revenue in fiscal 2027 after its cycles larger optimization actions.

United Natural Foods' fourth-quarter profit was $35 million, or 57 cents a share, compared with a loss of $87 million, or $1.43 a share, a year earlier.

Adjusted earnings per share were 69 cents, compared with analyst estimates of 61 cents, according to FactSet.

Sales ticked down 0.7% to $7.64 billion, compared with analyst estimates of $7.71 billion.

The company said sales were hurt by planned optimization actions as well as the unwind of short-term project work. Fourth-quarter natural products sales rose 6.6%, while conventional-product sales fell 8.6%.
