Singapore Stocks End Lower, STI Drops 0.66%; AEM SGD Surges Over 4%, PanUnited Gains 3.6%

Stocks in Singapore slipped Wednesday, as the FTSE Straits Times Index declined 0.66% to 5729.63.

Among local companies with a market cap of at least 1 billion Singapore dollars ($790.8 million), F & N was the biggest laggard, falling 2.8%, followed by shares of Hutchison Port Hldgs Tr, which dropped 2.4%. Shares of Olam Group declined 1.9%.

AEM SGD was the biggest leader during the session, gaining 4.5%, and PanUnited rose 3.6%. Centurion Corp rounded out the top three movers, as shares added 2.6%.

On the currency front, the WSJ Dollar Index declined 0.1% to 94.83. The U.S. dollar held steady against the Singapore dollar at S$1.26.

In the bond markets, the 10-year Singaporean government bond yield increased 1 basis point to 2.370%.
