Republicans will use their midterm convention in Dallas to try to disqualify Democratic candidates as out of the mainstream and even radical, amid the rise of some Democratic socialists. Polling gives a few indications that voters might be receptive to the idea.

About half of voters believe the Democratic Party's policy positions are too liberal, a Fox News poll found in July, and about 54% have a negative view of the party, the Real Clear Politics average of polls shows.
