MDA Space (MDA) has launched a defence-focused extension of its Aurora platform to provide secure and resilient communications for government and military customers, the company said Thursday.

The MDA Aurora Black extension adds secure end-to-end connectivity, onboard anti-jamming capabilities, GPS spoofing resistance and perimeter and proximity sensing to the existing platform, MDA Space said.

The extension is designed to support sovereign military satellite communications in contested environments and is intended for high-volume production to address near-term defence demand, the company said.
