General Motors' Digital Opportunity Underappreciated, UBS Says

General Motors (GM) digital capabilities are an underappreciated and undervalued opportunity that could create a recurring, less cyclical and higher-margin revenue stream, UBS Securities said in a note Monday.

UBS forecasts GM's total digital revenue will grow from $3.2 billion in 2026 to $9.6 billion by 2036, a roughly 11.5% CAGR. Digital profit contribution is expected to increase from about $2.7 billion in 2026 to $7.8 billion over the same period.

The growing percentage of General Motors' fleet that is connected allows the company to tap opportunities beyond initial vehicle sales and capitalize on ongoing vehicle ownership and secondary customers, according to the note.

The investment firm said further disclosure of digital key performance indicators or a breakout of digital revenue and profit could help drive a re-rating of General Motors' shares.

UBS maintained a buy rating and raised its price target to $114 from $102.

Shares of General Motors were up 1.2% in Monday afternoon trading.
