Guangzhou Automobile Group (HKG:2238, SHA:601238) said its shares were suspended from trading in Hong Kong and Shanghai on Monday pending its disclosure of inside information.
While the company did not provide further details in its filing, the trading halt followed a same-day Caixin report that cited unnamed sources as saying that China's FAW Group plans to acquire a stake in the company.
Caixin said the deal is part of Beijing's planned consolidation of underperforming state-owned automakers.
