0941 GMT - The dollar might struggle to rise unless the Federal Reserve cements expectations for an extended interest-rate rise cycle in a decision later, MUFG Bank's Lee Hardman says in a note. The market is nearly fully pricing a 25 basis-point rate rise Wednesday and almost 95 basis points of tightening by September 2027, LSEG data show. This pricing creates a high bar for the Fed to sound more "hawkish" in favor of raising rates than expected, Hardman says. The Fed's communication is unlikely to provide a clear signal over how much further tightening is likely to be needed, he says. The decision is at 1800 GMT. The DXY dollar index trades flat at 99.639.
