J.B. Hunt Transport Services (JBHT) expects earnings to fall 5% to 10% sequentially in Q3, Chief Financial Officer Brad Delco said Tuesday on a conference call. The company faced "one of the most acute changes in the cost of purchased transportation," with intra-quarter spot rates rising 30%, Delco said.

Shares slumped 13% as intraday trading volume catapulted to over 3.33 million from a daily average of about 949,000.

Xenetic Biosciences (XBIO) has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire all outstanding shares of Santersus in an all-stock transaction. The combined company is expected to continue trading on the Nasdaq Capital Market as Santersus Bio under a new ticker symbol, "SNTS."

Shares sank 50% as intraday trading volume soared to over 1.32 million from the stock's daily average of roughly 41,000.
