KKR (KKR), Blackstone (BX), and Energy Capital Partners have teamed up to bid for GFL Environmental (GFL), Bloomberg News reported Wednesday, citing people familiar with the matter.

Brookfield Asset Management (BAM) and IFM Investors have formed a rival consortium to bid for the waste manager, the unnamed sources told the news outlet.

GFL's special committee is evaluating the proposals and could ask bidders to improve their offers, with a decision potentially due in the coming weeks, according to the report.

GFL Chief Executive Patrick Dovigi told Bloomberg Wednesday that he is open to taking the company private at a valuation above its current share price.

GFL, KKR, Blackstone, Brookfield, and Energy Capital didn't immediately respond to MT Newswires' requests for comment.
