0918 GMT - Sandoz Group's approval for a generic version of Novo Nordisk's Ozempic in Canada is positive, but it is difficult to assess how big of a boost this will be for the Swiss generic-drug manufacturer, RBC Capital Markets' Harry Sephton says. "The overall generic opportunity is uncertain given we expect Novo to compete on price and it likely has the lowest cost of production, additionally it has shown willingness to compete in Canada with the launch of its own authorized generics Plosbrio and Poviztra," the analyst says in a research note. The Canadian market is large, with the Ozempic market estimated at around $1 billion and the total GLP-1 market at $2.6 billion, RBC says. Sandoz shares rise 2.7%.
