IDEXX Laboratories (IDXX) has expanded its Faecal Dx antigen testing platform in the UK to detect taeniid tapeworms, including Taenia and Echinococcus species, the company said Thursday.

The testing platform now detects seven intestinal parasite groups, including hookworm, roundworm, and whipworm, among others, IDEXX said.

The expanded taeniid tapeworm testing is available at no additional cost for IDEXX Reference Laboratories customers, the company said.

IDEXX added that positive results will automatically trigger a complimentary follow-up Echinococcus RealPCR test.
