Eli Lilly (LLY) said Monday it launched a global initiative to expand access to its diabetes and obesity medicines in low- and middle-income countries.
Under the Lilly Change the Course Commitment, the company said it plans to treat as many patients in resource-limited countries as in high-income countries with its diabetes and obesity medicines by 2040.
Lilly said it plans to expand clinical development, regulatory approvals and access in these countries and work with health organizations to strengthen local healthcare systems.
The company said it will focus on countries in Africa, Latin America and Asia and report progress through its annual sustainability report.
