Yancoal Australia (HKG:3668, ASX:YAL) said Wednesday that the New South Wales planning authority approved its proposal to extend coal mining operations in the Hunter Valley complex until 2045, according to a same-day filing with the bourse.
The company said the announcement followed a six-year regulatory process, and it is now working with its joint venture partner, Glencore, to secure approval from Australia's top environmental regulator by year-end.
Yancoal's Hong Kong-listed shares were up 2% in midday trading.
