South Korea's retail sales fell 0.3% year over year in August, according to data released by the Ministry of Data and Statistics on Wednesday.

The reading compared with a 1% decrease recorded in the previous month.

On a month-over-month basis, retail sales declined 1.8%, following the 2.6% drop in the prior month.
