MetaOptics (SGX:9MT) formed a Malaysian unit, MetaOptics Technologies, as part of its expansion into the country and efforts to strengthen collaborations with semiconductor supply chain partners.

The unit had an issued and paid-up capital of 300,000 ringgit and will focus on manufacturing optical instruments and electronic components, according to a Friday filing.

In a separate same-day filing, the company said its Malaysia expansion will include a metalens manufacturing facility in Penang, Malaysia.

The facility will be equipped with automated assembly and testing systems, a 12-inch laser writer and wafer-level metalens testers.
