Elon Musk says SpaceX expects to make its first functional test chip by May or June at its Austin, Texas, facility.

The company wants to reach volume production at its Terafab facility by the third quarter of 2028."These are very aggressive dates," Musk said. "Insanely fast time frames."

In August, SpaceX announced plans to build a semiconductor fabrication plant- called Terafab- in Texas, with the goal of producing 1 terawatt of compute per year.
