Nvidia's (NVDA) shares slumped 7.8% amid a sell-off in chipmakers after Democrats won the midterm elections and their campaign's signature opposition to the US data centre buildout.

More than 212.5 million shares of Nvidia traded intraday, compared with a daily average of roughly 113.2 million.

Sandisk (SNDK) plunged 18% as intraday trading soared to nearly 24.1 million from a daily average of over 10.5 million.

Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) sank 14%, with intraday trading volume rising to over 50.3 million from a daily average of more than 21.3 million.
