The BEXCELLENT GP (01775) has announced its preliminary financial expectations. The group anticipates recording an unaudited consolidated profit attributable to owners of approximately HKD 12.9 million for the ten-month period ending 31 May 2026.

This result represents a significant turnaround from the comparable period in 2025, which saw a loss attributable to owners of about HKD 11.2 million. The improvement amounts to roughly HKD 24.1 million. The loss in the prior period was primarily due to several strategic investments. These included a major expansion of the professional teaching and administrative team to enhance educational quality and operational capacity, which increased staff-related costs. Significant investment was also made in research and development for specialized courses and tailored learning materials for international curricula and assessments to ensure academic excellence and competitive advantage. Furthermore, targeted marketing campaigns aimed at strengthening the brand and further penetrating the Mainland China market incurred substantial expenses. A loss on the disposal of financial assets at fair value through profit or loss also contributed to the prior year's result.

Building on the positive momentum demonstrated in the group's interim results for the six months ended 31 January 2026, the company maintained revenue growth and continued to deliver strong operational performance over the subsequent four months. The key drivers behind the return to profitability for the ten-month period are the sustained robust operational momentum and the gradual realization of revenue growth stemming from foundational investments made in previous periods.

Major contributing factors include a notable increase in the number of students from partner institutions in Mainland China enrolling in the company's school services, reflecting sustained demand for HKDSE-related educational services. There has also been strong revenue growth from the company's supplementary education services and products. Additionally, the company's private secondary day school and its private secondary supplementary education services further contributed to revenue in the four months leading up to 31 May 2026.

This performance demonstrates the group's successful operational scaling and its ability to effectively monetize enhanced teaching resources and curricula. This trend is consistent with the growth pattern observed in the first half of the financial year ending 31 July 2026.

It is important to note that the group's operations are seasonal in nature. The majority of its students are Form 6 candidates preparing for public examinations, and their courses typically conclude before the March exams. Furthermore, students in other senior forms generally reduce their course participation towards the end of the academic year. Consequently, revenue generated in June and July is typically lower and may generally be insufficient to fully cover operating costs, often resulting in operational losses and net cash outflows during those months.
