Following the release of new national standards for food delivery services, major platforms including Meituan-W, JD-SW's food delivery service, and Alibaba's Taobao Quick Purchase have issued compliance statements, drawing significant attention.

From the evening of December 4 to December 5, these three platforms released declarations regarding their implementation of the "Basic Requirements for Food Delivery Platform Service Management," a recommended national standard. Each platform emphasized its role as a drafting participant in the standard's development, contributing to discussions on fair competition, food safety, service quality, and stakeholder rights.

The platforms pledged to voluntarily integrate the standard's requirements into their operations, optimizing rules to enhance merchant and delivery personnel management while improving consumer experiences. They aim to foster industry-wide compliance, quality service, and sustainable growth, collaborating with stakeholders to maintain a fair and orderly market.

Pan Helin, a member of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology's expert committee, noted that the platforms' unified response aligns with regulatory expectations, helping them seize policy advantages. Higher standards, he added, can boost competitiveness, consumer trust, and operational efficiency while positioning these firms as leaders in industry standardization.

The new standard addresses long-standing issues such as irrational competition and inadequate protections for delivery personnel. It focuses on four key areas: 1. **Merchant Management**: Strengthening platform accountability in onboarding and operations, encouraging compliance with food safety measures like "Internet + Transparent Kitchen." 2. **Fee and Promotion Transparency**: Simplifying pricing structures and ensuring fair promotional practices to foster market transparency. 3. **Labor Protections**: Improving working conditions, training, and benefits for delivery personnel. 4. **Dispute Resolution**: Enhancing complaint mechanisms for consumers, merchants, and delivery workers, with platforms urged to increase procedural transparency.

Developed through extensive industry consultation, the standard refines existing regulations to promote balanced growth, urging platforms to prioritize service quality over mere scale.

Chen Liteng, a digital lifestyle analyst at E-Commerce Research Center, highlighted the policy's dual impact: elevating service standards while steering platforms toward sustainable, user-centric models. By providing clear regulatory benchmarks, the framework supports self-discipline and fair competition, advancing the platform economy's high-quality development.

The statements underscore the industry's shift toward responsible growth, with platforms committing to align operations with broader societal and regulatory expectations.
