The first "Village Basketball Association" tournament hosted by Lixiang Street in Hunnan District, themed "Strive and Unite for Lixiang," launched on August 11 at the Shengyuan Garden Residence Fitness Club. This event aims to build a distinctive rural sports brand infused with local charm, showcasing the area's harmonious village landscapes, rich cultural heritage, and the dynamic momentum of rural revitalization.

The five-day competition adopts a group stage round-robin scoring system followed by cross-elimination playoffs. Twelve teams will compete in 20 matches to determine the champion, runner-up, and third-place finishers. Players include returning youth, villagers, enterprise employees, students, and government officials, all of whom are local amateur athletes. After registration opened, villages responded enthusiastically. Some villagers who did not make the team volunteered as event logistics staff, while others spontaneously formed cheerleading squads and crafted homemade props to support the games.

Adhering to the principle of "organized by villages, played by villages, and enjoyed by villages," all teams are village-based, with names incorporating village elements. Opening ceremonies featured秧歌 (yangge) dances and performances, all self-choreographed and performed by villagers. These displays immersed the audience in the lively atmosphere of Lixiang's rural life and highlighted the tangible progress in building harmonious and beautiful villages.

During the event, nearly ten local enterprises proactively provided support, contributing to supplies, venue arrangements, and event logistics. This collaboration between government and businesses ensured the success of this grassroots rural sports gathering. Moving forward, Lixiang Street will use this tournament as a springboard to continue cultivating exclusive local rural sports events, regularly organizing popular cultural and fitness activities. By leveraging sports to unite communities and rural culture to empower Hunnan District's high-quality development, the initiative aims to boost Liaoning's comprehensive rural revitalization and the construction of livable, workable, and beautiful villages.
