The municipal government of Linfen in Shanxi Province has unveiled an ambitious blueprint to establish a 50-billion-yuan advanced equipment manufacturing hub, anchored on the strategic pillars of industrial clustering, smart technology adoption, and cross-sector integration. The announcement was made on August 24 by Hu Xiaogang, Executive Vice Mayor of Linfen, during a briefing on the city's industrial transformation progress.
Official data underscores the sector's robust momentum: the value-added output of equipment manufacturing surged by 44.4% last year and recorded an additional 29.3% growth in the first half of this year. The city now houses 114 large-scale equipment manufacturing enterprises. Hu emphasized that this industry serves as the backbone of Linfen's economic restructuring, reflecting a profound shift in the local manufacturing landscape.
Leveraging its unique regional advantages, Linfen plans to reinforce its specialized energy equipment foundation, covering coal machinery, coalbed methane equipment, and new energy systems. Simultaneously, the city aims to expand competitive clusters in automotive components, home appliances, engineering machinery, and energy-saving environmental equipment, while strategically positioning itself in emerging frontiers such as embodied intelligent robots and additive manufacturing.
Over the past two years, ten major equipment manufacturing projects have already commenced operations, including the Huaxiang Intelligent Technology Industrial Park, the Houma Guoqiang traffic barriers and photovoltaic bracket facility, the Xiangfen Yunda wind power turbine manufacturing plant, and the Puxian Dabo precision casting base. Collectively, these projects have contributed over 3 billion yuan in new output value.
To sustain this growth trajectory, Linfen is aggressively advancing 30 key initiatives, such as the Huaxiang (Yicheng) 150,000-ton industrial parts manufacturing project and the Guodian Tebian ultra-high-voltage transformer digital factory. The city targets exceeding 50 billion yuan in high-end equipment manufacturing output by the end of the "15th Five-Year Plan" period. Additionally, digital empowerment efforts are underway, with 11 basic-level smart factories and 5 advanced-level smart factories already established. Linfen is now focused on cultivating a further 20 advanced-level or higher smart factories and achieving its first excellence-level smart factory during the 2026-2030 planning cycle.
