Canadian Solar Inc. (CSIQ) rallied 5.23% in Friday's trading session, following the release of its impressive third-quarter 2024 earnings results and positive business outlook driven by the growing demand for solar and energy storage solutions from the AI and data center sectors.

The solar energy and battery storage products provider reported strong financial performance for the third quarter, with revenue of $1.5 billion and a gross margin of 16.4%, surpassing guidance. Canadian Solar's CSI Solar subsidiary delivered an operating income of $111 million, driven by record shipments of 8.4 gigawatts of solar modules and 1.8 gigawatt-hours of battery energy storage solutions.

In addition to the solid quarterly results, Canadian Solar's management highlighted the company's significant investments in US manufacturing capabilities. These include a solar module facility in Texas, a solar cell facility in Indiana, and plans to build a state-of-the-art battery cell, module, and packaging manufacturing facility in Shelbyville, Kentucky.

The company's strong project development pipeline, with over 26 gigawatts of solar and 66 gigawatt-hours of battery energy storage capacity, further underscores its growth prospects. Canadian Solar's management emphasized the growing role of solar and energy storage solutions in addressing the energy needs of AI infrastructure and data centers, driven by the global AI revolution and the increasing demand for sustainable power sources.
