Emera Inc. (NYSE: EMA) shares tumbled 6.78% in pre-market trading on Friday, as investors reacted to the company's second-quarter earnings report, which fell short of Wall Street expectations.

The energy services provider reported adjusted earnings of $0.50 per share, missing the analyst consensus estimate of $0.56 by 10.71 percent. The earnings miss was driven by increased interest expense, foreign exchange losses at the corporate level, and decreased earnings at its New Mexico Gas Company and Grand Bahama Power Company operations. Despite the profit decline, revenue for the quarter rose to $1.453 billion.

The company's reported Q2 adjusted earnings per share were C$0.69, down from C$0.79 a year earlier and below the C$0.71 FactSet consensus. Emera maintained its outlook for 2026 adjusted EPS growth above its 5-7% annual target range and reaffirmed its commitment to that growth rate through 2030, but the near-term earnings disappointment weighed heavily on the stock.
