ASUS recently launched its flagship graphics card, the ROG MATRIX PLATINUM RTX 5090 (Platinum Edition), which stands at the pinnacle of design, specifications, and pricing. Priced at $3,999.99 (approximately ¥28,300) in the U.S. official store, it is double the suggested starting price of the standard RTX 5090. Despite the steep cost, the card sold out almost immediately upon release, reaching a rare "unavailable at any price" status.

The premium pricing is attributed to its exclusive "30th Anniversary Limited Edition" status, marking the revival of the MATRIX series with only 1,000 units produced globally. Beyond its price, the card boasts extravagant specifications, including an unprecedented 800W power limit to fully unleash its performance.

To maximize its potential, users must pair it with a high-end ASUS motherboard supporting the BTF power slot and a 12V-2x6 connector. Tests by der8auer confirmed that enabling the 800W power limit boosts the Matrix RTX 5090's performance by about 10% over the standard edition—a significant gain given the RTX 5090's already formidable base performance.

For cooling, the card employs liquid metal, a massive heatsink, and a 3+1 quad-fan design. Weighing approximately 3.2 kg, it measures 370 x 150 x 77 mm.

ASUS even integrated an angle sensor to prevent PCB bending (sagging) over time due to the card's substantial size.
