Palantir Technologies Inc released its second-quarter financial results for fiscal year 2026 on August 3, revealing a 93% year-over-year surge in revenue to $1.94 billion, with net profit reaching $1.07 billion. All key financial metrics significantly exceeded market expectations, triggering a 12% jump in the company's stock price during after-hours trading.

Driven by sustained demand for artificial intelligence applications, Palantir's core businesses showed robust growth across the board. Second-quarter net profit rose from $329 million in the same period last year to $1.07 billion, translating to an adjusted earnings per share of $0.41, surpassing the consensus estimate of $0.35.

By segment, the company's U.S. government business generated $809 million in revenue during the quarter, up 90% year-over-year. The U.S. commercial business performed particularly strongly, with quarterly revenue of $764 million, representing a 149% surge. The total value of unfilled contracts in this division has grown to $6.24 billion.

Given the current growth trajectory, Palantir has significantly raised its full-year 2026 guidance. The company now expects total annual revenue of between $8.15 billion and $8.16 billion, up from the previous forecast of $7.65 billion to $7.66 billion. The U.S. commercial business revenue forecast for the full year has been raised to over $3.42 billion.

Prior to this earnings release, Palantir's stock had fallen 29% year-to-date amid concerns over a potential slowdown in the AI software industry. This quarterly report has helped alleviate some of those market apprehensions.

Palantir CEO Alex Karp stated in an interview that the company's current growth momentum is expected to continue for at least another 18 months. When discussing the development of the AI industry and technological competition, Karp emphasized the importance of maintaining market competition and developing open-source models. He argued that developing open-weight models helps promote healthy industry growth, and that the U.S. tech community needs to enhance its technological capabilities by actively participating in market competition.
