China's first large-scale project to blend hydrogen into natural gas for 100,000 households was officially launched on the 19th in Weifang, Shandong Province. The project utilizes Weifang's existing urban natural gas pipeline infrastructure to achieve stable blending and distribution of hydrogen with natural gas. Covering 100,000 urban residents in the central district of Weifang, the project fully supports various daily gas usage scenarios, including residential living and commercial catering. Residents can use the hydrogen-blended natural gas normally without needing to replace their original gas appliances. The demonstration project employs hydrogen blending equipment capable of handling 30,000 cubic meters of natural gas, allowing for adjustable hydrogen blending ratios ranging from 0% to 10%. Currently, the project has completed the construction of a 5,000 cubic meters per hour water electrolysis hydrogen production facility, China's first 5.2-kilometer urban hydrogen transmission pipeline, and an advanced detection platform for the entire blending and transmission process. It can consume up to 13 million cubic meters of hydrogen annually.
