Changchun Airport's Summer Travel Shield: Enhancing Passenger Comfort and Efficiency

Deep News
08/14

As the summer travel season enters its second half, Changchun Airport is aligning with peak passenger flow characteristics by focusing on service quality improvements, hardware maintenance, and extreme weather contingency measures to build a comprehensive travel protection line and ensure smooth journeys for travelers.

To reduce waiting times and enhance passenger convenience, many travelers during the summer season are often delayed by temporary tasks, leading to missed check-in deadlines and disrupted itineraries. In response, Changchun Airport has introduced a new service called "Jike Jixing" for domestic airline passengers without checked baggage, breaking through traditional check-in cut-off time limits. This service establishes a streamlined process of "quick identification, priority check-in, expedited security screening, and guided boarding." Currently, passengers on flights from airlines such as Spring Airlines, 9 Air, China Southern Airlines, Sichuan Airlines, and Xiamen Airlines, as well as wheelchair users, those with mobility issues, first-time flyers, and unaccompanied minors, are not yet included. Other domestic outbound passengers can utilize this service. Under the new rules, passengers without checked baggage can arrive at the airport 25 minutes before the scheduled departure time, complete check-in and security, and reach the boarding gate, effectively broadening their time buffer. For those with checked baggage, the check-in cutoff remains at 35 minutes before departure, in line with current operational standards.

To combat heat and enhance comfort, the second half of the summer travel season sees a convergence of tourism, family visits, and student travel, boosting the market's "heat index." Changchun Airport is continuously upgrading its comprehensive summer travel support capabilities. This includes conducting special high-temperature risk inspections and routine maintenance of passenger service vehicles to prevent weak airflow and temperature imbalances in crowded areas, creating a cool and comfortable boarding environment. Additionally, given the high volume of fresh seasonal cargo, the airport has strengthened inspections of cold storage facilities to ensure they remain operational. In cases of irregular flights, early cargo storage, or delayed pickup by owners, the airport proactively services to maintain the quality of refrigerated goods. It also has optimized rainy-day baggage handling procedures, protecting checked luggage, such as cardboard boxes, from rain damage during unloading, thus improving the overall passenger experience.

To ensure smoother travel and reduce disruptions, flight punctuality remains a key focus for passengers. Changchun Airport is coordinating both operational scheduling and passenger services to guarantee stable flight operations and seamless travel. On the operational side, it is continuously enhancing on-site coordination mechanisms with airlines and reinforcing front-line staffing across all support units. Maintenance and calibration of all equipment have been completed in advance, and preparations for large-scale flight diversions are in place. The airport has strengthened early warnings for extreme weather, refined risk analysis for flight diversions during the flood season, and developed specialized support plans for diverted flights to ensure efficient ground services. For passenger services, dedicated staff monitor flight dynamics in real-time, assist with ticket changes and refunds, provide guidance for passengers on diverted or canceled flights, and arrange overnight accommodations and next-day flights. Additional baggage handlers have been deployed to improve sorting efficiency, and bus capacity has been increased to facilitate orderly passenger transfers.
