Stock Track | Roblox Plunges 16.2% After Hours as Safety Initiatives Force Major Guidance Cuts

Roblox Corporation's stock experienced a sharp decline of 16.20% in the after-hours session following the release of its quarterly financial results. The significant drop came as investors reacted to the company's updated financial outlook and commentary on operational headwinds.

The primary driver of the sell-off was the company's decision to slash its annual bookings forecast. Roblox now expects fiscal 2026 bookings of $7.33 billion to $7.6 billion, a substantial reduction from its prior forecast of $8.28 billion to $8.55 billion. Furthermore, second-quarter revenue guidance of $1.39 billion to $1.45 billion fell well below analyst estimates of $1.88 billion.

Company executives attributed the weaker outlook to greater-than-expected headwinds from the rollout of new age-verification and safety features. The CFO noted that since implementing age-gating of communication features in January, the platform has seen reduced communication engagement, which impacts content virality and user growth. The company also accrued a $57 million expense in the quarter related to settlements with states over youth safety and consumer protection matters.
