On September 24, China Life Insurance Company Limited (ASX: 601628) released an announcement on the resolutions of the 33rd meeting of its eighth board of directors, approving the proposal to nominate Mr. Dan Xinhu as the company's Chief Marketing Officer. The proposal was passed unanimously.

This marks the first time China Life has established a "chief" level position for its marketing line. The company had previously set up roles including Chief Investment Officer, Chief Risk Officer, and Chief Compliance Officer.

It is understood that the Chief Marketing Officer does not fall under the category of regulatory-approved senior management as defined by the Provisions on the Administration of the Qualifications of Directors, Supervisors, and Senior Managers of Insurance Companies, and therefore its establishment does not require regulatory approval. China Life Pension Company had already set up this position previously, and CCB Life also has a precedent.

Industry insiders pointed out that the Chief Marketing Officer is primarily responsible for formulating and overseeing marketing strategies, coordinating brand building, customer analysis, and market resource allocation.

According to his biographical information, Dan Xinhu was born in November 1969 and graduated from Zhongnan University of Economics with a bachelor's degree in economics. Dan Xinhu is a veteran of China Life, having served within the China Life system for an extended period. From 2016 to 2022, he successively served as Assistant General Manager and Deputy General Manager of China Life's Henan Provincial Branch, and Deputy General Manager (presiding over work) of the Gansu Provincial Branch. Since December 2022, he has served as General Manager of China Life's Shandong Provincial Branch. Since February 2026, he has concurrently served as Compliance Officer of the company's Shandong Provincial Branch.

Public information shows that China Life was established in 2003 with a registered capital of 28.265 billion yuan. The group has 8 first-tier subsidiaries, 1 nationwide joint-stock commercial bank, and 1 insurance college, with business operations spanning insurance, investment, and banking. The company has more than 20,000 branches and outlets across 36 provinces (autonomous regions, municipalities directly under the central government, and cities with independent planning status) nationwide, nearly 900,000 employees and sales personnel, and more than 5,000 service counters. It also has branches and representative offices in Hong Kong, Macau, Singapore, Indonesia, London, and New York, and has cumulatively provided financial and insurance services to over 800 million customers, making it one of the earliest enterprises in China to operate insurance business.

In the first half of the year, China Life's total assets and investment assets maintained steady growth, reaching 8.09 trillion yuan and 7.95 trillion yuan respectively. Shareholders' equity attributable to shareholders of the parent company reached 664.203 billion yuan, up 11.6% year-on-year. The comprehensive solvency adequacy ratio reached 197.78%, and the core solvency adequacy ratio reached 156.80%, consistently maintaining adequate levels. The number of valid long-term insurance policies stood at 328 million. Its total market capitalization ranks first among global life insurance companies.
