YouTube Premium to Feature Peacock Content Starting Next Year Under New Agreement

NBCUniversal has reached a deal with YouTube to integrate its streaming service Peacock into the YouTube platform for premium subscribers.

Starting in early 2025, the entire Peacock content library—including NFL and NBA games from NBC Sports, Universal Pictures films like the Minions franchise, as well as Peacock and Bravo originals such as The Real Housewives and Love Island USA—will be available to YouTube Premium subscribers in the United States.

YouTube Premium is the paid tier of the video platform, offering ad-free viewing and, depending on the subscription level, the ability to download most videos. It offers various plans starting at $8.99 per month. Peacock Premium currently costs $10.99 per month.

According to sources familiar with the matter, the partnership originated about nine months ago when Comcast co-CEO Brian Roberts directly contacted YouTube CEO Neal Mohan. The source added that after a meeting between the executive teams at Google's offices, they began conceptualizing a collaboration of this nature.

NBCUniversal's deal with YouTube comes amid a period of rapid industry change. Traditional media companies like Comcast-owned NBCUniversal, Warner Bros. Discovery, and Disney are actively pursuing business initiatives to boost revenue and profitability, while tech platforms like YouTube and TikTok continue to capture a larger share of audience time.

As consumers abandon paid TV packages for streaming, shifting business models are forcing media companies to adapt. Paramount Skydance has agreed to acquire WBD, Fox Corporation has reached a deal to buy Roku, and Comcast is preparing to spin off NBCUniversal next year.

While streaming services are increasingly offering bundled packages to attract more subscribers, this partnership goes a step further by embedding Peacock content directly into the YouTube platform—meaning the content is integrated so viewers can watch it without leaving YouTube.

According to YouTube's subscription page, the platform has over 125 million global Premium members.

NBCUniversal reported last week that Peacock had 48 million paid subscribers as of June 30 and achieved its first profitable quarter.

During Comcast's investor earnings call, co-CEO Mike Cavanagh (who will serve as CEO of NBCUniversal after the spin-off) stated that he expects Peacock to remain profitable on an annual basis, though results may fluctuate from quarter to quarter.

Monday's announcement also extends the multi-year distribution agreement between NBCUniversal and YouTube TV (YouTube's pure-play streaming TV package), as well as the distribution agreements for YouTube, YouTube TV, and YouTube Premium on Comcast's Xfinity-branded cable TV and Xumo platforms.

Additionally, the partnership will strengthen advertising collaboration and capabilities between the two companies, allowing NBCUniversal to monetize its Peacock content through ads on YouTube's platform. Advertising has become a key driver of streaming growth for all media companies.
