NASA announced on Tuesday that it has awarded contracts to multiple aerospace companies, including Jeff Bezos’ Blue Origin and Astrolab, to launch robotic landers, rovers, and drones to the Moon in support of upcoming lunar exploration missions.

NASA stated that it has allocated $219 million to Astrolab and an additional $2.2 million to the same company for the development and delivery of a lunar terrain vehicle.

Blue Origin has secured a contract worth $188 million to utilize its uncrewed cargo lunar lander, Mark 1, for transporting a rover to the lunar surface.

These contracts are part of NASA’s broader Artemis program, which aims to expand human presence in space and support future deep-space exploration.

NASA also indicated that it has selected Firefly Aerospace to construct a spacecraft that will transport a drone from Earth orbit to the Moon for its "Lunar Fall" mission, scheduled for launch in 2028.

The revised Artemis program, established during the first term of former U.S. President Donald Trump, includes deploying infrastructure and vehicles centered around a lunar base on the Moon’s surface.

NASA’s second Artemis mission, launched in April, sent four astronauts to lunar orbit and back to Earth, marking one of several precursor missions to the first crewed lunar landing since 1972.
