Powell Industries (POWL) shares tumbled 13.91% in post-market trading after the company released its fiscal third-quarter 2026 results, with revenue falling short of Wall Street expectations and triggering a sharp unwinding of bullish sentiment that had built up during the regular session.

The electrical energy solutions provider reported Q3 revenue of $312 million, below the IBES consensus estimate of $315.2 million. While the company posted gross profit of $95 million and net income of $52 million, the top-line miss disappointed investors who had maintained elevated expectations around high-margin order delivery and the resilience of energy end-market capital expenditure. The earnings release also highlighted three mega orders awarded during the quarter, including a data center order exceeding $400 million, and total Q3 orders of $934 million, but these positive developments were overshadowed by the revenue shortfall.

The post-market selloff reversed earlier intraday gains of approximately 5%, as the results failed to meet the optimistic sentiment that had driven the stock higher alongside broad strength in the Electrical Components & Equipment sector. The swift decline reflects a rapid repricing as investors reassessed the company's near-term growth trajectory following the quarterly update.
