Shares of SSY GROUP (HKEX: 02005) have risen more than 7%. At the time of writing, the stock is up 6.93% to HK$2.16, with a turnover of HK$16.02 million.

The catalyst for the move is a recent company announcement. Its wholly-owned subsidiary, Shijiazhuang No.4 Pharmaceutical, has entered into a letter of intent with Opterion Health AG for the research, development, production, and commercialization of a novel non-glucose-based osmotic driver, OPT101, an innovative drug intended as a new therapy for peritoneal dialysis patients.

Phase I clinical trial data from the European Medicines Agency (EMA) is expected to be available in the third quarter of 2026. Consequently, Opterion and Shijiazhuang No.4 Pharmaceutical are committed to finalizing a formal cooperation and licensing agreement by that same quarter in 2026.

According to the announcement, Opterion will grant Shijiazhuang No.4 Pharmaceutical an exclusive license for patents, know-how, and platform technology related to OPT101. This license permits research, development, production, and sales of the authorized product within the People's Republic of China, excluding Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan, with the term lasting until 2038.

Shijiazhuang No.4 Pharmaceutical also holds a right of first refusal to obtain, under the same terms and conditions, the authorization for the research, development, production, and distribution of OPT101 in Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Russia in the future. Furthermore, under equal conditions, the subsidiary has a priority right to collaborate with Opterion on OPT101.
