An explosion that occurred in the early hours of February 7 at Jiapeng Biotechnology Co., Ltd. in Shanyin County, Shanxi Province, has resulted in eight fatalities. The legal representative of the company involved has been taken into custody. Shuozhou City has established an investigation team to look into the incident. The facility is situated in a remote valley over 40 kilometers from the county seat. At the scene, faint yellow smoke could still be seen emanating from the site as emergency response efforts continued.
