Central Bank Vows Prudent Monetary Easing and Enhanced Two-Way Market Liberalization

The People's Bank of China (PBOC) convened a symposium with foreign financial institutions on September 21, where it gathered feedback and discussed measures to improve the business environment and advance the high-level opening of the financial sector. The meeting comes alongside the central bank's recent moves to ramp up liquidity injections, ensuring stable funding conditions ahead of the holiday period.

PBOC Governor Pan Gongsheng stated that China's economy is performing generally smoothly with a positive trajectory, marked by ongoing structural improvements and steady progress in high-quality development. He affirmed that the central bank will faithfully implement the decisions and arrangements of the Party Central Committee and the State Council, executing a moderately loose monetary policy to create an appropriate monetary and financial environment for stable economic growth and orderly financial market operations.

Governor Pan further emphasized the commitment to advancing high-level financial opening, continuously improving policy supply, and steadily expanding two-way liberalization of financial markets. Efforts will also focus on optimizing cross-border payment services and facilitating the international use of the renminbi.

Representatives from 15 foreign financial institutions, including Bank of America, JPMorgan Chase, HSBC, and Standard Chartered, attended the symposium and shared their views. These institutions acknowledged the significant progress made by the PBOC this year in deepening financial sector reform and opening, improving the business environment, and promoting the international use of the renminbi. They expressed a desire for the continued optimization of relevant policies and enhanced communication with the market.
