JPMorgan Asset Management (JPMAM) has appointed Philip Tso as its new Head of Institutional Business in Hong Kong, effective immediately, as announced recently.

Tso will report to Ayaz Ebrahim, JPMorgan's Head of Hong Kong Client Business and CEO of Singapore, Southeast Asia, and India. Based in Hong Kong, his responsibilities include formulating sales strategies, driving business growth, deepening relationships with senior clients, and expanding the firm's influence within the institutional sector.

With over 30 years of experience in institutional business, Tso's career spans strategic asset allocation, customized discretionary mandates, and advisory solutions. He has served large, mature asset-holding institutions, providing consultancy to pension funds, sovereign wealth funds, insurance companies, and government-related entities.

Prior to joining JPMorgan Asset Management, Tso served as the Head of Institutional Business for Asia Pacific at Allianz Investment, previously leading its Hong Kong operations. Earlier in his career, he spent more than 20 years at Willis Towers Watson, starting as an actuarial consultant and later heading the Hong Kong investment advisory business.

Ayaz Ebrahim commented, "The growth rate of institutional assets in the Asia-Pacific region outpaces that of other global regions, and Hong Kong remains a core market to capture this opportunity. Asset managers with diversified platforms, comprehensive investment capabilities, solid local presence, and strong client relationships are better positioned to meet the evolving needs of institutional clients."

"This appointment underscores our ambition to expand market share by deepening and broadening client partnerships and product innovation. His extensive experience across pensions, sovereign wealth funds, insurance companies, and various institutional sectors, combined with his strong local network, industry reputation, and leadership skills, make him the ideal person to lead Hong Kong's institutional business into its next phase of growth," Ebrahim added.
