XPeng (NYSE: XPEV) has announced the order performance of the Mona M03 following the launch of new variants, demonstrating the popularity of the electric sedan.

The Mona M03's Max and Plus variants received 12,566 firm orders within the first hour of their availability, XPeng said last night.

This surpasses the performance of the Mona M03 during its initial launch last year, with the Max variant accounting for 83 percent of new orders, according to XPeng.

Hong Kong-listed shares of XPeng jumped 8.2% in morning trading, while US-listed shares also jumped 8.5% in overnight trading.

The Chinese electric vehicle (EV) maker officially launched the Mona M03 Max and Plus variants last night, with the launch event concluding around 8:30 pm Beijing time.

The Mona M03 Max offers two options, starting at RMB 129,800 ($18,040) and RMB 139,800, with CLTC ranges of 502 km and 600 km, respectively.

The Mona M03 Plus also has two options, starting at RMB 119,800 and RMB 129,800, respectively. Their CLTC ranges are 515 km and 620 km, respectively.

XPeng has equipped the Mona M03 Max with the Turing smart driving system, which provides advanced AI-assisted driving without additional fees or subscriptions, covering all public roads in China.

The ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System) is similar to Tesla's (NASDAQ: TSLA) FSD (Full Self-Driving), marking the first time such advanced driving features have been introduced to a vehicle in the $20,000 price range globally.

The Mona M03 Max is powered by two Nvidia Orin-X smart driving chips, delivering 508 TOPS of computing power, which XPeng said is four times that of comparable models.

The Mona M03 Max enables seamless human-machine co-piloting, with the vehicle and driver intuitively sharing control without the need for system separation during steering input.

The Mona M03 Plus does not feature the Turing smart driving system but includes capabilities such as adaptive cruise control, lane-centering assistance, and parking assistance.

The Mona M03 was initially launched on August 27, 2024, with three variants announced at the time: 515, 620, and 580 Max, with starting prices of RMB 119,800, RMB 129,800, and RMB 155,800, respectively.

Deliveries of the 580 Max variant never began. The two newly launched Max options have replaced the 580 Max.

The Mona M03 has become XPeng's best-selling model, with 14,210 units delivered in April, accounting for 40.55 percent of XPeng's monthly deliveries, according to data compiled by CnEVPost.

In a media interview last night, XPeng chairman and CEO He Xiaopeng said that the Mona series will have more new models to be released, and they will be products targeting the global market.
