China and the US will continue efforts to extend paused reciprocal tariffs, including the 24% portion suspended by the US, and China’s countermeasures as scheduled, according to Li Chenggang, a senior official from China’s Ministry of Commerce.
Li said trade teams from China and the US engaged in in-depth, candid, and constructive discussions over key issues during a day-and-a-half meeting, following consensus from the June 5 call between leaders. Both sides aim to leverage the bilateral trade consultation mechanism for progress.
