SJM Holdings (SJMH) Publishes 2025 ESG Report: Carbon Footprint Shrinks, MOP 174.00 Million Ploughed Into Green Procurement

SJM Holdings Limited (SJMH) released its Environmental, Social & Governance Report 2025, detailing progress across climate action, governance and community engagement for the 12 months ended 31 December 2025.

Environmental Performance • Scope 1 emissions fell 10.20 % to 9,902.67 tCO₂e, while location-based Scope 2 emissions slipped 1.30 % to 174,699.36 tCO₂e. • Group-wide initiatives—ranging from AI-enabled air-conditioning at Grand Lisboa Macau to wind-energy recovery on the Grand Lisboa Palace rooftop—helped cut electricity use by 1.46 % to 286.86 million kWh. • Diesel buses in the corporate fleet were cut 18 % year-on-year as 77 electric and two natural-gas buses came into service; older diesel units (≥10 years) were fully retired. • SJM diverted more than 1,500 tonnes of recyclables and eliminated 5.20 million pieces of single-use plastic through revamped hotel-amenity packaging and in-house water dispensers. • Green procurement spending totalled MOP 174.00 million, and 73 % of the 2,172 suppliers are Macau-based SMEs.

Climate Governance • A climate-risk framework aligned with IFRS S2 was completed and reported to the Board and Risk Management Committee. • SJMH reconfirmed its ambition to reach carbon neutrality by 2060 with an interim target of a 3 % year-on-year cut in Scope 1 and 2 emissions.

Governance & Ethics • All 13 casinos are now certified Responsible Gambling Model Units. • No concluded legal cases related to corruption, fraud or money-laundering were recorded; 14,124 hours of AML/CTF training were delivered. • No significant cybersecurity incidents or data-privacy breaches were reported after the rollout of extended detection-and-response, data-loss-prevention and threat-intelligence systems.

Human Capital • Average training reached 37.34 hours per employee, totalling 721,000 hours for 19,300-plus staff; 98 % of employees are Macau residents. • Staff turnover remained below 10 %, and the female-to-male workforce ratio stood at 1:0.92. • SJM secured ISO 45001 certification group-wide and reported zero work-related fatalities for the third consecutive year.

Community & CSR • Employees logged 11,231 volunteer participations, contributing 42,344 service hours across more than 400 community events. • Key focus areas included elder care, youth development, inclusive sports and patriotic education; festival-season outreach reached 5,300 beneficiaries.

Awards & Recognition • SJM and its properties collected over 170 external accolades, including TVB’s ESG Environmental Innovative Technology Award, Hong Kong Sustainable Development Innovation & Technology honours, and multiple Forbes Five-Star ratings for hotels and restaurants.

The group stresses that its 2025 achievements provide “a resilient foundation” for long-term decarbonisation, talent development and community partnership as Macau’s integrated-resort sector pivots toward diversified, sustainable growth.
