Singapore's electronics exports last month recorded their largest-ever increase, propelled by robust global demand for devices related to artificial intelligence.
According to data released on Wednesday, the value of shipments in May surged by nearly 95% compared to a year earlier, reaching S$7.1 billion (US$5.5 billion). Integrated circuits remained the primary driver, with an increase of almost 81%. The city-state's total non-oil domestic exports expanded by 38%.
The surge in demand for semiconductors, electronics, and other AI-related products this year has been a significant boost for Asian economies, including South Korea and Japan.
