From November 10 to 13, the wrestling competition of the 15th National Games was held at the Qingyuan Sports Center Gymnasium. With the final gold medal awarded, Qingyuan has successfully completed all hosting tasks for the mass events of Chinese wrestling, fitness Qigong demonstrations, and the competitive wrestling events. Since July this year, over 1,200 athletes, coaches, and technical officials have participated in the games in Qingyuan.

Zhu Jiang, gold medalist in the women's freestyle 50kg wrestling event, praised the venue conditions and volunteer services as "thoughtful and meticulous." Qian Qiusheng, head coach of women's freestyle 68kg champion Long Jia, added, "Qingyuan's professional and warm event support ensured athletes performed at their best—it’s our lucky place."

To ensure smooth operations, Qingyuan established a comprehensive support system, creating an optimal environment for athletes. The city integrated preparations with urban civilization initiatives, decorating key areas like the Qingyuan High-Speed Rail Station and bus stops with National Games-themed designs. The mascots "Xi Yangyang" and "Le Rongrong" greeted visitors across the venue.

In recent years, Qingyuan has built or upgraded 30 high-quality sports facilities, laying a solid foundation for hosting major events. Adhering to principles of efficiency and sustainability, the city leveraged the "sports+" strategy to convert event-driven attention into long-term development gains. Public sports infrastructure improvements now enable counties across Qingyuan to host large-scale competitions.

Additionally, Qingyuan developed an industrial chain linking sports events with tourism, culture, and consumer markets. The 2025 Qingyuan Marathon attracted nearly 70,000 applicants and over 2 million online engagements, boosting local hospitality and scenic spot revenues. The city also launched event-themed travel packages, such as "Follow the Games to Tour Qingyuan," blending spectating with tourism.

Capitalizing on its reputation as "China’s Rafting Town," Qingyuan hosted international rafting competitions and designed "rafting+" travel routes, making it a key growth driver under the "sports+" economy. In the first half of 2025, the city saw tourist visits and tourism revenue surge by over 20% year-on-year.
