Reports of Hundreds of Layoffs at Tencent's TiMi Studio Denied by Insiders

Recent claims have surfaced on social media platforms, including Xiaohongshu, suggesting that TiMi Studio, a subsidiary of Tencent Holdings Ltd., was planning to lay off hundreds of employees, possibly linked to the "Shan Hai Xun Ling" project team.

Insiders close to TiMi have refuted these reports, stating that the information is inaccurate. While a project previously managed by the TiMi J6 team is indeed undergoing adjustments, the number of employees affected is not in the hundreds but rather over 100 individuals. Furthermore, the impacted staff have been granted a two-month transition period, and the company is actively facilitating internal transfers, known as "huoshui" or job mobility. Employees who opt to leave after the two-month period will be eligible for an N+1 severance package.

According to sources, TiMi Studio alone currently has over 500 vacant positions available, meaning the vast majority of affected employees are expected to be absorbed internally. Several major projects are actively recruiting, with some teams even looking to hire entire module groups. The adjustment affecting the J6 team is attributed to the underperformance of "Shan Hai Xun Ling," a pet-catching game they developed. Launched on January 30th, the project unfortunately failed to stand out during the highly competitive Chinese New Year period.
