A team from Yunnan University's Plateau Characteristic Woody Vegetable Resources Development and Utilization group, in conjunction with the "Yunda Wanli" summer social practice program and the "Three Zones" science and technology commissioner project, traveled to Longchuan County from August 4th to 5th for a specialized survey and practice focused on forestry resources and underforest economy.

The team consisted of Associate Researcher Deng Gang from the Yunnan University College of Agriculture, Tan Shirui, deputy director of the Yunnan Provincial International Joint Laboratory for the Development and Utilization of Plateau Characteristic Woody Vegetable Resources, and students participating in the summer social practice. Personnel from the Dehong Prefecture Forestry Science Research Institute, the Longchuan County Political Consultative Conference, the Longchuan County Forestry and Grassland Bureau, and Yunnan Zhirui Biotechnology Development Co., Ltd. also took part in the research activities.

During the survey, the team inspected the development of forestry resources in Dehong Prefecture and engaged in study and exchange sessions with the team led by Yu Guixiang, director of the Dehong Prefecture Forestry Science Research Institute, focusing on the protection and utilization of key forestry resources, especially nationally protected species. This effort deepened their understanding of the local forestry resource baseline and the current status of conservation and development.

The research team also visited the Chengzi Forest Management Area of the Longchuan State-owned Forest Farm to discuss construction and provide technical guidance for a jointly established woody vegetable germplasm resource collection and seedling breeding base. This base, built through a tripartite collaboration between Yunnan University, the Longchuan County Forestry and Grassland Bureau, and Yunnan Zhirui Biotechnology Development Co., Ltd., has completed preliminary construction over six months, covering 43 mu (approximately 2.87 hectares) and integrating functions such as resource collection, improved variety breeding, demonstration display, and experimental trials. The base has now taken initial shape.

The research team inspected the growth of seedlings on-site, conducted technical exchanges, and provided recommendations for the next phase of the base's development.
